Ballyhackamore is a village community in Belfast. It is situated on the Upper Newtownards Road in east Belfast, 'halfway' between Belfast City centre and Dundonald Village.
It is a thriving community of shops, restaurants and a variety of businesses'. It has become a very popular area to live for many people, due to its excellent facilities and renowned restaurants. The Ballyahackamore library opened its doors in 1992 and has been a popular focal point for the community since.
Nearby is its 'sister' community of Belmont.The Belmont road is another popular shopping area and has itself attracted a lot of new residents to the area. It is also the location of many new restauarants and cafes. The whole of Ballyhackamore and Belmont is now very much a desirable location to live, demonstrated by the high cost of property in this area.
In latter years Ballyhackamore has become very much a boom village, with ever more restaurants opening along its busy road front. In fact it is host to a variety of excellent eating establishments offering all types of cuisine, from asian to award winning restaurants. Some locals envisage it becoming the new 'Lisburn road' or 'Stranmillis'.
Of course just a mile up the road lies the fabulous grounds of Stormont - the seat of local government. This is a major tourist attraction and indeed is a very popular place for locals to go walking or jogging in its vast grounds.
Ballyhackamore has long been the base for a number of estate agents, with no less than six along its stretch. In fact there is very little you cannot find in the village of Ballyhackamore and in amongst smaller local shops, you will find the supermarket giants, Tesco's and Marks and Spencers, just a stones throw away.
There are a large number of offices situated in the village area and it offers a high standard of office accommodation for businesses' who wish to relocate to this vibrant area. For residents, Ballyhackamore provides a superb location in which to live; just about every convenience can be found on the doorstep here - from an attractive local pub to top class restaurants. Plans are in place for more eating establishments in the village too.
That is why it has become very much a sought after area in terms of property for sale or even to rent. Ballyhackamore is indeed a bustling and wonderful little village.
