Deadlines keep you focused, and help even the most organized PM (and anyone working on the project) on task towards its completion. But deadlines are also the enemy, because the closer you come to the deadline without the project's completion, the more likely you are to feel the pressure.

Deadline anxiety motivates many project managers, but it's not necessarily healthy. After all, anxiety itself is a negative experience, and if you are consistently feeling deadline anxiety, you're putting your body through a great deal of stress and increasing the likelihood of experiencing an anxiety disorder. That's why you should always work to avoid this deadline stress beforehand, looking for ways to try to keep the pressure off.

Tips for Making Deadlines Less Stressful

SMART Goals for Resources
Most PMs are familiar with SMART goals, or at least the idea behind smart goals. Essentially, by creating smaller, attainable, realistic goals, the project manager is able to best ensure the project's completion. But many project managers still allow those whose work they depend on to work too independently, giving team members larger goals and waiting upon their completion.

The larger the goals, the more potential problems can arise. First, the project manager may not know a project has fallen behind until it is too late. Second, people have a tendency to speed up closer to the deadline, putting them at greater risk for missing it. Third, the larger the goal, the more likely the steps between each goal have errors or are completely forgotten. Getting in on time and on budget requires everyone to work at maximum efficiency as often as possible.

Giving employees SMART goals throughout the process gives them multiple deadlines and a way of tracking their progress better than using their word alone. For many project managers this sounds like part of the job, but a number of PMs rely too highly on trust and communication about progress, rather than seeing the progress itself and giving people multiple items to reach. If you know everyone on the team has completed every task before the deadline that they needed to complete, the deadline itself becomes less stressful.

Set Early Goals
Another part of managing anxiety is setting these goals to be completed long before they need to be completed in order to reach the deadline. Once again, some PMs do this already, but many do not, instead focusing on the final deadline rather than managing a project towards an imaginary early deadline that gives extra time in case the project falls behind. Team members also do not need to know the deadline is imaginary, so that they are working hard to meet their deadlines while you are ensuring the project is coming closer to being completed on time and on budget.

Address All Problems Immediately
Often the stress your experience closer to a deadline is exacerbated by issues not yet addressed with either the client or your superiors. Yet stress and anxiety are cumulative, in many respects, so ideally you need to reduce anything that is going to build on that stress. If a project is becoming over budget, for example, make sure anyone waiting on the project knows long before the deadline has arrived. That will ensure that you're limiting yourself only to deadline stress, not adding to the pressure from other forms of stress.

Work on Your Personal Anxiety
Similarly, because anxiety is cumulative, deadline stress can often be exacerbated by stress you experience from other issues unrelated to work. For example, if you're having problems in your home life, and you are nearing a deadline, the anxiety you experience may be much worse than if you are better managing your personal issues. So look for any causes of anxiety that may be affecting your stress levels and deal with them before the deadline approaches.

Write Out Worries/Write Out Positives
The mind is a fascinating thing. One thing that that makes it fascinating is how much the act of thinking can affect your personal stress levels. One way to reduce "thinking" (in the sense that you can control your negative thoughts) is to write down all of the worries your brain wants to remember as the deadline approaches. By writing down all of the thoughts floating around in your mind, your brain feels less of a need to focus on those thoughts and can turn its attention towards other, more important tasks.
Similarly, you can also affect how your brain thinks as well. Near the deadline of a project as well as once the project is over you can write down everything that went very well on the project. This will teach your brain to focus only on the positives, and the stress of the deadline will have less of an effect on your thought patterns.

Managing Pre-Deadline Stress

Many PMs get a rush off deadlines, but the anxiety that keeps you motivated is still not good for your mental or physical health. The above strategies may seem basic to some, but they have the potential to drastically reduce that deadline stress, and if you can avoid the stress, you'll have an easier time maintaining a good quality of life as a project manager.

Skid steer loader sales and their attachments may see a nice increase, if the U.S. housing market is any reflection of what skid loader owners can expect.

That is because there has been an increase in sales of both housing starts and previously owned homes in the first half of 2010. In fact, both categories are up sharply from the lows of April 2009, thanks to the new home owner tax credit. We are also seeing evidence of home prices increasing, after seeing the first year-over-year gain in three years this past February, an indicator that things may be stabilizing.

However, some experts are not so sure this increase is going to last. One financial blogger recently wrote that "the recent price run-up is a false dawn, and that prices will drop again now that the homebuyer tax credit has expired. But the bottom set last spring may well hold."

So while this may mean that the expired tax credit will not help home sales, there may be another spike in both new housing starts and previously-owned home sales as prices drop again.

This means one of three things for the skid steer loader industry.

1. New skid steer loader sales will increase. That may make the most sense, but is not necessarily true. More homes being built means an increased demand for the versatile skid steer loader, as well as skid steer loader attachments. That is because whether contractors are expanding their skid steer loader fleet, or whether they are making sure their old loaders can last another season, an increase in housing starts means the remaining contractors will need to handle more tasks on a job site.

Landscaping contractors may be called on to help prepare driveways, mow and grade new building lots, or pump out flooded basements and ditches. Building contractors may be asked to help transport building materials or even move landscaping materials for small landscaping contractors who do not own their own skid loader.

While the U.S. housing market is still fairly uncertain, and none of the housing economists can even agree on where to get lunch, let alone what the future will hold for the market, one thing is certain: contractors are being called on to do more and more projects outside their original niche. Every time I turn on a news channel whether its FOX, CNN, CBS, or ABC all I see is sad stories of politicians using government funds for their personal use, or unremorseful talk show host David Letterman revealing to the world that he cheated on his wife with pretty much all of his assistants. Then you see a story about another terror threat on our country, which should be the lead story that falls behind stupid gossip.

Ever since 9-11 anytime something popped up about a terror alert, I have always wondered what city will be next and hoped no lives would once again be lost. I think the problem that most of us had, was that we always felt untouchable living in the U.S until the towers came down and many of innocent victims lost they're lives. It's a day that all of us will never forget, and children born after the tragedy will learn about but will never fully understand the impact it had on all of us at the time.

Like many I was not a fan of President Bush at the time, but was happy he did take quick initiative to try and find the terrorist responsible for the brutal deaths of many on U.S soil. While many of the terrorist leaders have been caught or killed in the process, the one that really matters Bin Laden still seems to be at large. Until he is caught or they officially find his corpse we are not as safe as we think. Terrorist plots on U.S will continue to grow along with the strong hatred they have for us, and unlike most reasonable people they are willing to sacrifice everything to be a martyr.

I know most of us are die hard Americans willing to put flags up outside of our houses, yell at every politician we see on TV that we do not agree with. But we have to realize that we are facing terrorists that are willing to sacrifice not only themselves but their families as well. While our kids grow up little league baseball, or Pop Warner football systems, children in other countries start learning how to kill enemies at the age of five. They are brought up to believe anyone who opposes them should be dealt with in a severe manner. Every time I hear that an American convoy was attacked by a suicide bomber that happens to be a child. I am thankful that my two sons only have to worry about whether or not they will be able to play the Wii after they finish their homework before dinner.

But as time goes by since the last attack on our soil, we have all started to get a little comfortable again. There have been a couple of high alerts but thank the one above that nothing has happened. Recently suspected terrorist with Al Qaeda ties Najibullah Zazi who lived in Denver was arrested after buying large amounts of cosmetic chemicals from a beauty supply store in order to build a bomb of mass destruction, which he planned to set off in the United States. Thankfully he was caught before he was able to follow through with his plans, or we could be looking at another major attack.

For one thing I am very grateful that we have dedicated men and women that risk their lives everyday overseas to fight for what's right. I do not agree that it should have taken this long, but I am just a nine to five civilian working in the safety of an office. There are probably many things going on in Afghanistan that we truly don't know about, and will never know about. One fact still remains the same the longer troops stay overseas, the more the 9-11 death toll grows, and the more we worry that at any moment an attack could once again happen.

Bank garnishments are the first method to attempt, if you want to collect a judgment. That being the situation, the first info to attempt to find is where the debtor banks. Most debtors don't have safe deposit boxes at their bank (or Safety Deposit Boxes - SDBs), yet some will. Bank garnishments need a writ from a court. My articles are my opinions and are not, legal advice. I'm a judgment referral expert, and not an attorney. When you ever want a strategy to use or legal advice, please contact an attorney.

Even if you are sure that the debtor keeps a bank safety deposit box (SDB), they are costly to garnish. Garnishment instructions should request money from a debtor's bank and checking accounts first; and then to check for any safety deposit boxes in the name of the debtor. At this time, there's a choice to make, whether you should take a chance with the worth of the contents of what's inside the SDB. When you can afford to pay the additional costs of having the Sheriff garnish the debtors SDB, it might be a good idea to specifically requesting the SDB contents with the garnishment, as it is served on the debtor's bank.

To start a garnishment that includes a check for safety deposit boxes, letters of instruction to the Sheriff should be something similar to: "please have the Sheriff garnish all funds under the name of Dave Debtman SSN 555-555-5555 at MoneyGrubber bank, 999 Money Ave, Cupertino, CA, 90000, for the judgment debtor. Please garnish first any and all deposit and savings accounts, and then if the writ of execution is not fully satisfied, check for any and all safety deposit boxes in the name of the judgment debtor".

In California, CCP 700.150 defines how safety deposit boxes are garnished, and the way debtors get served notice. Government Code Section 26723 is referenced, which just specifies a charge of $125 to open a SDB. The debtor might be permitted to open their SDB voluntarily, and some will. Otherwise, the judgment owner needs to pay for drilling open and then fixing the SDB. Usually, this extra garnishment cost can be documented and added to the debtor's debt.

What happens if the garnishment locates a debtor's safety deposit box? When the Sheriff garnishment instructions include a promise that you will pay (or prepay) the additional costs of garnishing a debtor's bank safety deposit box, their SDB will get opened. Occasionally the key to open the debtor's SDB will be found, which often saves the judgment owner money. Way too often, a locksmith needs to be hired to drill the safety deposit box open.

After the bank's garnishment section responds with a "Memorandum of Garnishee", it will confirm any SDBs kept in the name of the debtor. Then, the Sheriff will send you a letter and give you (e.g.) 5 days to respond that you want the box(es) opened by force. If you do, you will need to pay the Sheriff some cash (e.g., $160 per visit) and most often, the bank more cash (e.g., $320 per box) to drill the box(es).

The bank offers the debtor an opportunity to come down to their bank to open their box voluntarily (however they will not be allowed to remove any contents). When the debtor doesn't take advantage of the bank's generous offer, their safety deposit box holder rights will be lost and the drilling happens on the chosen day. Some Sheriffs require a judgment owner to be present on this happy occasion, others don't.

Occasionally the debtor or a 3rd-party, claims some or all of what's in the safety deposit box doesn't belong to the debtor. In this case, the non-debtor co-owner would need to come forth and file their 3rd-party exemption claim with the Sheriff, showing the source of the assets or funds. When you suspect fraud, you might be able to subpoena records related to the ownership of the contents of the safety deposit box.

Will the cost of garnishing the debtor's SDB contents justify the cost? Anything could happen. Their SDB might be empty, or it might have stolen property, valuable coins, pills, or a whole bunch of $50 bills, or almost anything else which would fit. Hopefully, you'll find a treasure there to repay the judgment. The debtor can attend, along with anyone else that has something in the box. It's often fun to see the debtor's face when their (formerly private) safety deposit box is opened.

What the youths did not know, though, was that during their activities, all their conversations and sounds were being recorded and relayed to their father, even while their spyphones were turned off.

The father was placed under investigation, but a heated debate ensued, with people taking sides either in favor of privacy at all costs (after all, the mans sons had not committed any illegal activities), or absolving the father for using a mobile spy with good intentions.

We know that all are equal before the law, and we all know that some are more equal than others, as the saying goes. But in cases like this, although eavesdropping is not legal everywhere if not carried out by law enforcement institution, does the usage of a cellular interceptor really break the law?

Politically correct lawmakers, though, tend to prevent a parent from secretly listening to their kids conversations, based on the protection of privacy and the assumption that unauthorized interception is by default aimed at an illegal use.

There are two common complications with many mausoleums, however, which, undesirably, rob the serene and peaceful quality from the families of the interred, and make a mockery of the deceased bodies. These two conditions are mausoleum smells and coffin, or phorid flies.

Mausoleum smells are from the decomposition process, which occurs naturally as the body undergoes the decaying process. Morticians frequently call the offending bodies, "leakers". These mausoleum odors can be terribly overwhelming, and as a result of the embalming chemicals and the gases coming as a result of decomposition, they can coupled with that pose a health hazard to workers and visitors.

The second challenging issue that is prevalent for most mausoleums is the phorid or coffin fly. These terrible pests are about one fourth the size of the average house fly, and while they're in the larval stage of growth, coffin flies feed on the decomposing bodies within the crypt spaces.
